I am able to get into the classroom on
August 7th and will begin to set up the classroom then. I will be sure to post
pictures of the classroom when it is completed.
I have rough drafts of the lesson
plans for the first five weeks. They will be posted soon so check them out. The
first several weeks students are getting use to routines and procedures.
Math
In math, the students are reviewing
math concepts they learned in kindergarten. A few of these concepts include: one to one correspondence,
counting on, sets, and counting by fives and tens.
Science and Social Studies
In science and social studies, the
students will have units on respect, rules and citizens, goods and services,
and categories/objects/weight.
Literacy
In literacy, we are setting up the daily five. The students
have a balanced literacy approach where they Read to Self, Read to Someone,
complete Word Work, and work on Writing. Also during this time, students will
begin Guided Reading and work on individual goals.
